View Toledo, OH & Detroit, MI Botox Before & After Pictures
Botox is an injectable cosmetic treatment that causes muscles to relax, resulting in the reduction of wrinkles and fine lines for up to six months. Botox injections use a toxin to cause controlled weakening of the muscles, especially those in the face, for improved appearance and reduced lines and wrinkles. This lunchtime procedure is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the United States today.

Is a Botox Right for Me?
Botox is often chosen by Toledo patients between the ages of 30 and 65 who are starting to see the visible signs of aging, such as the development of lines and wrinkles in their face. Most adults in good overall health are able to undergo Botox injections. This treatment is often used as an alternative to invasive cosmetic surgeries, such as facelifts and brow lifts. It can also be used to enhance the results of such procedures.
Botox can be injected into many areas of the body, although it is most often used on the face, where it can reduce the appearance of:
- crow's feet
- frown lines
- forehead creases
- laugh lines
Because it works by relaxing underlying muscles, this injectable treatment will not affect lines caused by sun exposure, gravity, or the loss of skin elasticity. If you're not sure if Botox is right for you, ask a Detroit surgeon for Botox before after images.
Procedure Details
Botox injections can be done in your Detroit doctor's office, and take less than an hour. No anesthesia is required. During Botox injections, a fine needle injects a diluted solution of botulism toxin into the targeted muscle. This solution causes the muscle to temporarily weaken, smoothing the skin over the muscle. Injections of Botox by your Detroit surgeon work by blocking signals sent from nerves to muscles, so that the muscles are no longer able to contract.
Recovery After Botox
Botox is often called a “lunchtime procedure” because patients can return to their daily activities immediately. The injections do not require bandages, and most patients do not take more than an hour or two away from daily obligations. Side effects can include tingling, numbness, or bruising around the treated area, as well as temporary headaches, which should subside in a day or two. To avoid these side effects, avoid rubbing the treated area or laying down for six hours after the injection.
Detroit patients are usually able to see the affects of Botox in their wrinkles and fine lines for four to six months. Gradually, the muscles regain the ability to contract, and wrinkles start to reappear. Many patients opt for additional Botox treatments spaced about six months apart to maintain their facial appearance.
