Procedure DetailsIn Toledo, eyelid surgery typically takes one to three hours and is performed under local anesthesia. The first step is the creation of incisions in natural skin folds located either above or below the eye. Paper tape will be used to support the eyelids in their new position. Gauze may also be used for a few days after your eyelid procedure. Common side effects include eyes that are watery or dry, as well as bruising and swelling around the eye area. You may also experience double vision, blurred vision, or sensitivity to light. Most of these side effects will subside within a week, during which time it is important to keep the head elevated while sleeping, and avoid strenuous activities.
