Juvederm® Voluma™ XC
Serving patients in Ohio and Michigan including Toledo, Sylvania, Oregon, Detroit, Taylor, and Troy.
Juvéderm® Voluma™ XC is a dermal filler that’s injected into problem areas of a client’s face with fine needles. The difference between Juvéderm® Voluma™ XC and traditional Juvéderm is that Juvéderm® Voluma™ XC is the only dermal filler that’s been approved by the FDA for adding volume to the cheek area. It also comes with lidocaine, which is a topical anesthetic. Both types of Juvéderm® have hyaluronic acid as a main ingredient. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar that naturally occurs in all living things and fills up the pockets in the skin between collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are also natural substances that give skin its suppleness. Hyaluronic acid is also notable because it gets water into the skin and plumps up the volume of thin places like cheeks and lips even as it helps to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines.
Is Juvéderm® Voluma™ Right For Me?
Juvéderm® Voluma™ XC treatment is for people over 21 years old. Most clients are between 30 and 65 years old and want to reduce the appearance of the following signs of aging:
- Frown lines
- Crow’s Feet
- Creases in the forehead
- Marionette lines
- Smile lines
They also want to plump out areas they believe are unattractively thin. Juvéderm® Voluma™ XC hasn’t been tested on pregnant or nursing women, so it’s suggested that they forego the procedure till they’re no longer pregnant or nursing.
Since Juvéderm® Voluma™ XC comes with an anesthetic, the injections should be nearly pain free. The session takes about 30 minutes. Clients should see a reduction in lines and wrinkles and an improvement in the volume of their cheeks or lips over a few weeks. The improvements can last up to two years.
Recovery After Juvéderm® Voluma™ XC
Technically, there’s no recovery time after a session of Juvéderm® Voluma™ XC injections. However, it’s best if the client rests for a day or two before going back to his or her normal activities. There might be some bruising, redness, itching and swelling at the area where the dermal filler was injected. These can be soothed with ice packs. Also, the client shouldn’t go out into the sun for a few days without the application of sunscreen.
