Plastic Surgery

The term "plastic" in plastic surgery comes from the Greek word Plastikos, which means to mold or give shape. Plastic surgery is the reconstruction of one's facial or body appearance. The plastic surgeon "molds and gives shape" to a certain area on a patient, to make it look more aesthetically pleasing. Now plastic surgery is not just for the rich and famous, and plastic surgeons are not just located in Beverly Hills. Plastic surgeons are found all over the U.S. providing various cosmetic procedures for all types of patients.

True there are people who are happy with their appearance, but then there are individuals who feel their physical appearance needs an improvement. That is where cosmetic plastic surgery comes into play. Many individuals have reasons for wanting plastic surgery. There are some people who have had an injury, which has altered their appearance or some who have had deformities in their appearance since birth. Then there are those who have had natural causing effects, such as age, weight gain, or pregnancy, and are looking for a way to restore their appearance. Whichever the reason, cosmetic plastic surgery has found a way to make improvements in most cases. Unfortunately there are no guarantees in plastic surgery; the plastic surgeons do what they can to make improvements on a patient's appearance. They aim to make an improvement, not necessarily perfection. Because "what is perfection?"

Plastic surgery offers a variety of procedures designed to improve and even restore certain areas of the body. Some cosmetic procedures can help make a person look slimmer and others can help their face look much younger. Then there are even procedures that have helped restore a person's appearance. Every year, many women have had their breasts removed because of breast cancer. As a result many women have sought a plastic surgeon to perform breast reconstruction. Women have had their breasts restored and some feel that they have regained their femininity as a result of plastic surgery.
