CoolSculpting
Consultations offered at our three convenient locations in Toledo OH, Oregon OH and Taylor MI
Even with proper diet and routine exercise, many people continue having trouble with problem bulges caused by fat cells that lie beneath the skin. Now there is a means of eliminating these persistent areas using a technique known as CoolSculpting. This non-surgical, non-invasive procedure reduces subcutaneous body fat through a method known as Cryolipolysis, which means breaking fat down through exposure to cold temperatures.
CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved technique that uses a handheld device that draws skin into a C-shaped compartment lined with metal plates. When turned on, the electronic wand cools the metal to temperatures that are just above freezing. While the temperature is not cold enough to harm skin cells, the fat cells crystallize and die. The body’s immune system then dissolves and consumes the cells.

Details About Cryolipolysis
Weight loss efforts are something practically everyone invests in at some point or another in their lives. This may be part of an ongoing struggle to drop extra pounds and achieve a healthier

lifestyle for the long term, or it may be in lieu of an upcoming special event, such as a wedding, reunion, or vacation (when you break out that new bikini). Whatever your motivation to shed the fat may be, there is only so much that exercise and dieting can do to get rid of weight quickly. In fact, many people discover that continuous dieting and extreme amounts of activity are counterproductive to getting and keeping the weight off, as you bounce back and forth from one health extreme to another, ravaging your body in the process.
Fortunately, there’s a relatively new and FDA-approved fat reduction process that isn’t reliant on gimmicks such as eliminating water weight. Nor is it surgical, like liposuction, requiring invasive procedures that involve pain medication, long recovery times, scarring, and the potential for health complications. CoolSculpting uses controlled temperature exposure on fat deposits around the body to cause fat cells to be removed from the body. This not only reduces one’s weight but also helps recontour the body for a more shapely, aesthetic appearance.
This procedure is gaining in popularity not only for the rapid results it provides but also because of the ease of undergoing CoolSculpting compared to many other fat reduction procedures.
Before and After Photos
The CoolSculpting Treatment

The procedure is one of the least-complicated cosmetic alterations you can ever experience. There is no significant pre-preparation you’ll need to undergo, and our doctors will explain any essential steps during your consultation.
Each treatment targets a specific area and lasts approximately one hour. The number of treatments required depends largely on the amount of fat in each area, the size and number of areas requiring treatment. Following treatment, the skin over the treated area may appear slightly bruised from the continual vacuum. However, this typically subsides within 24 hours. Clients typically see a visible difference in two to three months. Visual studies indicate that subcutaneous fat layers are reduced by up to 25 percent following treatment. If clients continue a regimen of healthy eating and exercise, the results are permanent.
During the session, your skin is cleaned, and a sanitary gel is often placed over the body region to be treated. An applicator is set on the skin which then provides drastically lowered temperatures to freeze the underlying fat cells. Some suction is also introduced to pull fat cells closer to the skin and kill off more of them. Most patients can do activities such as reading, work on their laptops, watch tv shows, or even nap during the session. You are then able to be evaluated and released post-procedure in order to get right back to your normal routine. Many patients schedule a CoolSculpting session in the middle of their workday.
Coolsculpting Benefits
CoolSculpting procedures offer many benefits over traditional liposuction or other surgical procedures. When needing basic body contouring, consider the benefits of cryolipolysis:
- Effectively reduces localized fat deposits/ add lift
- Does not require anesthesia
- There are no injections
- It is not a surgically invasive procedure
- There is no risk of infection
- Recovery time is not necessary
- There are no serious side effects
Years ago, scientists at Harvard made a fascinating discovery. During their studies, they discovered that children who ate frozen treats like popsicles on a frequent basis experienced a “dimpling” effect of the cheeks. They determined that this was because fat cells freeze at higher temperatures than most other cells within the body and were being killed off and eliminated from the cheek areas due to ongoing exposure to colder temperatures. These cells were then naturally removed from the body, leaving smaller adipose deposits.
This process has now been patented and turned into the CoolSculpting procedure people around the country (and the world) are reaping the benefits of today! Our clinic is proud to offer CoolSculpting to its patients, giving them the chance to get the body they’ve always dreamed of without resorting to surgery or extreme diets.
When you undergo CoolSculpting, the fat deposits you wish to reduce are targeted by a device that applies cold temperatures to the tissue, freezing the fat cells and causing them to die—though in a manner that is safe for the rest of the body, not harming surrounding tissue or skin. These cells then are processed out of the body over time, leaving you slimmer, trimmer, and weighing less than ever.
Debra Messing, The New CoolSculpting Ambassador
Emmy Award-winning actress, comedienne, and mom, Debra Messing, joins the CoolSculpting movement! Debra opted for the non-invasive fat reduction treatment to help her feel “as authentic and beautiful as possible” for life’s #COOLMOMENTS.
“Most people don’t have time to spend hours or days recovering…[with CoolSculpting], I went right back to work!” – Debra Messing
CoolSculpting Vs. Liposuction
Both CoolSculpting and liposuction reduce fat deposits by removing fat cells from under the skin and other tissue. Weight is dropped because the fat simply no longer exists within the body, and can often be kept off if the patient adheres to a healthy, active lifestyle with good nutrition following either procedure. The results of both are also permanent, versus other procedures that simply shrink fat cells.
The main difference between CoolSculpting and liposuction is the method by which the fat cells are removed. CoolSculpting is non-invasive and doesn’t involve any surgery whereas liposuction is a surgical procedure that requires the physician to make incisions (and involves anesthesia and recovery time from the operation).
Liposuction uses specialized tools that are inserted through incisions and manipulated under the skin, breaking down, melting, and sucking away fat cells from the target area. CoolSculpting uses targeted and finely-controlled temperature exposure to target areas to freeze the fat cells, which are then removed by natural bodily functions. The side effects of CoolSculpting are relatively minor, the effects are more immediately noticeable, and the procedure is far less complicated—allowing you to be treated on an outpatient basis and resume normal activities far sooner.
Are you a Candidate for Coolsculpting?
Not everyone is a suitable candidate for CoolSculpting. The procedure was not designed as a cure for obesity. The spot treatments help minimize the appearance of bulges that are not corrected by diet and exercise. The areas targeted involve locations on the body where skin folds are easily pinched between the fingers. These regions include the love handles around the abdomen, bulges on the body along the bra line, deposits around the hips, and inner and outer thighs.
What you can treat with CoolSculpting:
- Double Chin
- Flank
- Bra Line
- Love Handles
- Abdomen
- Belly Fat
- Tummy
- Inner Thigh
- Outer Thigh
If you are a healthy and active individual with an excess of fat around your body, you may be a great candidate for CoolSculpting. Each patient is different, which is why we require everyone to have a pre-procedure consultation before actually undergoing the treatment. Since CoolSculpting is non-surgical, more people may be able to take advantage of its benefits without worrying about allergic reactions to anesthetics, pain medication conflicts, lifestyle disruption,
and the effects of smoking and drinking on surgical procedures. However, to maintain the results of CoolSculpting for as long as possible, we certainly recommend switching to healthier lifestyle choices, such as consistent physical activity, solid nutrition, and refraining from excessive drinking and smoking.

CoolSculpting has been performed over one million times globally, making it exceptionally safe and effective in eliminating unwanted fat from the body. It is almost limitless as to what areas of the body it can treat, and most targeted regions will exhibit less fat accumulation with just a single session.
Our doctors are well-versed in this procedure and knows exactly how to protect vulnerable tissue from the lower temperatures, even when dealing with the delicate skin of the face and other areas.
Consultation
Each potential client undergoes a consultation and physical assessment process that determines whether CoolSculpting is appropriate for their specific problem. The number of sessions required varies for each. Treatment plans will also vary according to each client’s budget, personal goals, and availability. Someone within 10 pounds of their ideal body weight and has an overall toned appearance may only need one or two treatments. Those who have a greater body mass often require a higher number of treatments. However, the technique is not designed to remove the large deposits of fat commonly associated with being seriously overweight or obese. The treatments also do not correct excess or sagging skin problems.
Our doctors sit down with each of their patients to review any procedure they’re considering of undergoing. He may also take measurements of the body regions you wish to target for CoolSculpting and take photos for before/after comparison.
Feel free to ask any number of questions concerning the CoolSculpting session. For instance, you may wish to ask:
- How much pain should I expect?
- How soon can I return to work or my daily routine?
- Will there be any side effects?
- How long will the results last?
- How visible should the results be and how quickly?
- What can I do to keep from gaining back the fat that’s been removed?
What Will the Results Be?
The minimal effects that clients experience following a procedure do not inhibit normal activity and typically disappear within 24 to 48 hours. Common side effects include redness or slight bruising over the treated area. Numbness or tingling sensations are also common. There are no physical restrictions, which means that patients may resume all normal daily functions. In fact, due to time conflicts, some clients receive treatments during a lunch break and promptly return to
work with no ill effects.

Unlike some other cosmetic surgeries to reduce weight and eliminate fat, CoolSculpting is relatively quick and painless in recovery. Since it is non-surgical, not requiring any incisions that then must heal, and without the need for anesthetics, most CoolSculpting patients are able to leave the clinic right after the session and return to either their work or daily routines. You may experience slight swelling, redness, or sensitivity around the treated areas, but this should be minimal, not need any pain prescriptions, and should disappear within a day or two.
When Will I See Results?
Depending on the size of the site treated, clients may see results in as little as three weeks following treatment. The gradual changes continue over months and typically peak at around the sixth month.
The fat cells that have been frozen are still in the body, and it can take several weeks before significant body composition changes will be seen. Within two months, you should see significant changes in the treated area, with regions such as the abdomen, hips, and back often showing the most drastic results. For up to four to six months after a session, the body will continue eliminating dead fat cells, further reducing your weight naturally and painlessly.
Are the Results Permanent?
As long as someone does not become obese, eat correctly and maintain a healthy lifestyle that includes regular physical activity, the remaining fat cells do not enlarge, and the body does not produce more fat cells. Those dead fat cells will not return to the treated area.
