About

Nothing in life is permanent. As remarkable as many enhancement procedures may be, they require follow-up and care to assure that the treatment suits your body. The FDA recommends that breast implants be exchanged or removed every 10 to 15 years. You may want an upgrade, a new look or an implant removal. We can advise you on the best course of action according to your aesthetic goals.

Implant Replacement Options

We offer Breast Implants in Toledo and Oregon, Ohio, as well as our Taylor, Michigan clinic. Implants come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but there are two main categories under which they fall. Silicone implants contain a gel that replicates the feel of a natural breast. Saline implants are filled with sterile salt water that mimics the body’s own fluids. Both types of implants are encased in a silicone shell.

Explant Surgery

If you prefer to have your implants removed altogether, this is called an explant procedure. Any remaining capsule material may dissipate on its own or it may not be noticeable to your overall look or feel

En Bloc Surgery

When a woman receives breast implants, her body adapts to the new object. She often develops capsules to surround the implants.[1] These capsules consist of tissue that shields the rest of the body from the implanted material. When a breast implant is removed, sometimes the capsule remains. An en bloc procedure removes both the implant and the capsule. If you want or need an en bloc capsulectomy, we can help. He can talk through all of your explant, en bloc, or replacement options during your consultation period.

Benefits

Every decision is reversible. If your breast implants no longer evoke the image or sensation that you want, then a removal procedure can greatly benefit you. Our doctors design every enhancement to increase a patient’s confidence and wellbeing.

By removing or replacing unwanted breast implants, the doctor can restore your shape to its ideal form.

Explant procedures address any concerns you may have arising from past breast augmentations that you received. Our doctors can correct procedures that were performed by other doctors and remove any impurities that remain. Our goal is to fulfill your goals. If you are unhappy with any aspect of your breast implants, please contact us today.

Ideal Candidates

If you received breast implants in the past and desire a new direction for your bustline, then you may be a perfect candidate for removal surgery. Our doctors will assess if you are healthy enough for the procedure or if you need additional or alternate care.

In rare cases, breast implants have caused cases of lymphoma. This phenomenon is called Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma, or BIA-ALCL. If you or someone you love is suffering from BIA-ALCL, then we want to hear from you. Our caring team is ready to alleviate any complications you may be experiencing.

Personal Consultation

The first step in any productive medical process is communication. When you tell us what you want, we will listen. Your initial consultation with one of our doctors consists of a discreet conversation, during which they will ask about the specific details of your past implant procedure.

Even more important than the past: your future.

We will gather information about your aesthetic goals, your idealized shape, and the reasons why breast implant removal may be best for you. During your meeting, the doctor will explain what the procedure entails and how to prepare beforehand.

To learn more about our knowledgeable staff, please visit our Blog. We pride ourselves on staying current with all relevant aesthetic trends, news, and updates. Just as the consultation is your chance to communicate with us, the blog is our opportunity to communicate with you.

Preparation

During your comprehensive consultation, your doctor will provide detailed instructions about how to prepare for breast implant removal surgery. These directions will be tailored to the specifics of your case, so please follow them carefully.

If you are prescribed any medications for post-procedure pain relief, please pick up these prescriptions before the date of your treatment. It is a good idea to arrange transportation to the clinic well ahead of your procedure appointment. You will not be able to drive yourself home due to the effects of the anesthesia.

We only want what is best for your successful preparation.

We are eager to answer your questions and address your concerns. You should feel free to contact any of our experienced, professional team for any additional help you may need.

Procedure

The nature of your procedure will depend on the type of implant you initially received. We will fashion your removal process accordingly.

Submuscular Implants

Many implants are situated under the pectoral (chest) muscles. Submuscular implants push the breast tissue forward, creating a natural look and feel. The doctor will make a tiny incision to carefully and gently access the implant from under the muscle tissue. In the case of en bloc removals, both the implant and its surrounding capsule will be removed before your incision is sutured closed.

Subglandular or Subfascial Implants

The other variety of breast implant placement is above the pectoral muscle. The position of the implant will affect the doctor’s procedural approach to removing it. They will assess your individual case during the consultation period and inform you of the details before your procedure.

A typical breast implant removal can take anywhere from one to three hours. You may be given a local anesthetic or general anesthesia. The doctor will communicate all of the specifics of your implant removal procedure well ahead of time. They wants to familiarize you with the process so you are comfortable and assured on the day of your procedure.

Recovery

Every recovery protocol is individualized. The doctor studies your healthcare history, prioritizes your improvement wishes, and factors all of this information into a comprehensive recuperation strategy. Some patients are back to work three days after a breast implant removal while others may require two weeks.

The bottom line: your safety is our top concern.

Surround yourself with supportive energy, helpful friends and family, or simply call our office for encouragement. We celebrate your strength and resolve, so contact us whenever you have questions or concerns.

Results

You will notice immediate results following your procedure.

Individual results vary depending on the patient and the extent of her procedure.[2] An en bloc surgery is inherently different than an implant replacement, for example, and each will yield unique outcomes. The doctor will transform your aesthetics wonderfully, regardless of whether you are receiving an explant or an adjustment.

The effects of breast implant removal will continue evolving for three to six months. Your body will adapt over time as you enjoy its new feel and contours.

Complementary Procedures

Aesthetics are a holistic art form. If one part of your silhouette changes, it affects everything around it. When you remove your breast implants, you may notice that the rest of your torso looks larger by comparison. In that case, you might want to consider an Arm Lift to contour the lines of your triceps and shoulders. Or if your new shape accentuates an unwanted belly bulge, ask us about our safe, effective Tummy Tuck procedure.

Cost

Your wellness has no price tag. If you need a breast implant removal due to the Allergan recall or any other healthcare reasons, our compassionate staff can guide you through the process. Cost should never stand in the way of your safety and happiness.

Please consult our Financing page, and feel free to contact our Toledo, Ohio offices with any questions you may have. We will work together to find the right solution for you.
